This is the beach where part of the film "Captain Corelli’s Mandolin" was shot in 2000. It is located on the north side of Kefalonia, near Komitata of Erisou. It has white pebbles, while the green nature around with olives and cypresses give the deep waters an aquamarine, turquoise color. Definitely will impress you when seen from above, as you go down the from from Komitata. The landscape had become worldwide famous because it was depicted on the poster of the film "The Captain Corelli’s Mandolin." Chorgota became known as "The Beach Pelagia ‘from the first scene where we see the protagonist (the role was the Penelope Cruz against the backdrop of beach. The shooting took place in Sami and Antisamos the summer of 2000 and the movie starring Nicolas Cage premiered the following year, making Kefalonia better known worldwide. Chorgota is not a proper beach but here you will enjoy peace and tranquility under the shade of trees, gazing across the northern Ithaca. The road is paved, starting at Komitata and leads to Chorgota and neighboring beach of Agia Sophia.
